| 内容記述 | When we think about the character of Lear’s three daughters,we usually think that\nCordelia and her sisters are ways apart.We often think that Goneril and Regan are Machiavellian and monstrous,while Cordelia is a kind,quiet,and angelic figure.However, as Werner and other critics argue,close analysis of the text shows that Cordelia has much to do with her sisters: she is decisive,courageous,and aggressive. Nevertheless,her resemblance to her sisters does not testify to her being Machiavellian. On the contrary,the resemblance acts as a warning for an audience not to judge by appearance.It tells the audience that true love cannot be judged by words but by the action,by the sacrifice one offers. | |||||||
