This study examines nonlinear dynamical aspects of electroencephalogram (EEG) by evaluating EEG correlation dimension, Subjects were four healthy male conege students, who performed two kinds of task that differed in complexity. One requires listening selectively and pushing a button in one's right hand; the other requires mental calculation besides them. The results demonstrated that in some scalp sites values of EEG correlation dimension were higher during performing more complex task, and that these sites tend to be in left hemisphere. It was also suggested that EEG correlation dimension can measure the status of brain activity that is not reflected in traditional frequency analysis. |
