| 内容記述 | A Midsummer Night’s Dream begins with an announcement of the marriage of Theseus and Hippolyta and ends with marriages of three couples. Though Hermia was threatened by the choice, between death and convent when she refused to marry her father’s favorite, Demetrius at the beginning of the play, she can marry her lover, Lysander at the end of the play, Likewise, though Helena was suffering from a broken heart at the beginning of the play, she can marry the man she loved. So this play seems to move from discord to concord and celebrates marriages. However, the concord reached at the end is not profound, and behind the appearance of the concord lies suppressed voices of women, contributing to the darkness of the play. | |||||||
